Save pangolins: Stop wildlife trafficking and support pangolin rescue efforts

Help pangolins today

Time is running out for pangolins. Help stop wildlife trafficking and save pangolins before it’s too late.

You can support wildlife rescue operations that save pangolins and stop the illegal pangolin trade.

Pangolins are the most trafficked animals in the world. Despite a global ban, the illegal wildlife trade of pangolin parts continues. It’s estimated that pangolin poaching has claimed the lives of 1 million pangolins over the past 10 years.

These shy and gentle creatures are smoked out of their burrows, trapped, and killed, so their parts can be used in traditional medicine and luxury cuisine. We’re fighting to change this story and save pangolins.

With our partners at Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN), we’re working to stop pangolin poaching and other animal trafficking in Asia. Our goal is to track poachers, rescue pangolins, and support pangolin rehabilitation to give these animals a second chance in the wild.

Our pangolin rescue mission follows three critical stages:

Pangolin in captivity

INVESTIGATE: Track down pangolin poachers

We get to the roots of wildlife crime. We support JAAN’s investigators in their undercover work, as they track and infiltrate illegal wildlife trade networks. The team helps law enforcement uncover smuggling routes, arrest wildlife traffickers, and stop wildlife trafficking.

RESCUE: Locate and save pangolins

Sumatra’s busy ports are a hotspot for animal trafficking in Asia. Here, hidden in boxes and sacks, pangolins are discovered weak, severely dehydrated, and traumatised. And time is of the essence to rescue pangolins alive.

With our help, the K9 Wildlife Detection Dog Unit and JAAN’s rescue teams work against the clock to locate and save pangolins, providing the emergency veterinary care they need.

€20 could help keep wildlife detection dogs on patrol and fund emergency veterinary care.

RELEASE: Return pangolins to the wild

Pangolin release is our ultimate aim, returning pangolins to their natural habitats for a second chance at life.

Thanks to JAAN’s pangolin rehabilitation efforts, trafficked animals grow strong enough to be transported to release sites, far away from known poachers. JAAN then works with Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry to carefully monitor the released pangolins and ensure their ongoing safety.

€30 could support pangolin rehabilitation and release back into the wild.
